Sunday's Post on Monday (Again) & A Birthday

Greetings all,
Here are more rhymes from The Christian Mother Goose Book. You can find past posts from this book here (where I found the book), here, here, here and here (for new friends to my blog or old friends that may have been away). I was so tired yesterday I didn't do a lot of things I should have/or wanted to. My knee is bothering me, swelling and hurting, also. The heat here has the humidity high and I honestly think it is what's causing the pain in my legs. Of course the tired feeling could also have been due to the celebrating on Saturday.

It was my niece's 16th birthday and she wanted a Sweet 16 cookout with all of her family. Christina is my younger brothers 1st daughter. She is living with my brother now but in the past she has lived mostly with her mother and a step father or her mothers parents. She is fitting into her daddies family home just fine and all are making sure everyone gets to see her. Both sides of her family were at the bar-b-cue and there was no quarreling or squabbling. It was Christina's day and we made it a good one for her. Her mother even got to be there and she is now an aunt and she got to see her baby nephew.
She really enjoyed the cake! :)

Help with cleaning up...
She was ever so curious as to what her little brother would get her. He had been teasing her with the bag all week.

Can you see what it is.? It's those wipe away the hair on your legs thingy's. She got such a laugh, we all did. And little brother, age 13, blushed with embarrasment. I guess the joke was on him. She was not embarassed at all. LOL!! Great kids, all of them.

So anyway, here are today's offerings from my Christian Mother Goose Book:

SEE-SAW MARGERY DAW
See-saw Margery Daw,
Jackie has found a new master.
His name is Jesus, Shepherd and Friend,
And Jackie's a sheep in His pasture.

~~~
WOULD YOU PRAISE HIM ON A CACTUS?
Would you praise Him
On a cactus?
Would you praise Him
Just for practice?
Would you praise him
In a hole?
Would you praise Him
On a pole?
Would you praise Him
When you're small?
Would you praise Him
When you're tall?
Would you praise Him
In a tree?
Would you praise Him
On your knee?
Would you praise Him
On a roof?
Would you praise Him
With one tooth?
Would you praise Him
With a song?
Would you praise Him
With a gong?
Would you praise Him
In old shoes?
Would you praise Him
When you lose?
Would you praise Him
Beating drums?
Would you praise Him
With smashed thumbs?
Would you praise Him
On a sled?
Would you praise Him
On your head?
Would you praise Him
In a pew?
Would you praise Him
In an igloo?
Would you praise Him
With a clown?
Would you praise Him
Round the town?
When you praise Him
When you're glad?
Would you praise Him
When you're sad?
Would you praise Him
blowing bubbles?
Would you praise Him
In your troubles?
Would you praise Him
With a dove?
Would you praise Him
For His love?
Would you praise Him
Hot or cooler?
YES! I'LL PRAISE HIM!
HALLELUJAH!
I could show you all of the wonderful drawings that went along with this wonderful rhyme. I could...but....wouldn't it be much more fun creating drawings of your own to go along with the stanzas? The next time your children or grandchildren say, "I'm bored, there's nothing to do." , take a moment to read them this rhyme and then assign them to task of illustrating it for you. That would be one wonderful gift to cherish. Maybe I should show you a peek at the illustrations. Samples for yourself or the little ones.
Ok, It's sleepy-bye time.
Day 3~ LAst Christmas Party for 2009 and B-Days
Good Sunday,
It's been another good day, and a long one. Today we met after church for a big Family Christmas Gathering at my moms place. With a new home and a new husband it was a lot of fun. We had not realized but today's visit was Bobbie's first visit to her grandma's new home. Of course she loved it. We had chicken roll-ups, cream of chicken & sour cream sauce, egg noodles, green beans, peas, a salad and a vegetable tray. My youngest also made her famous cheese ball, yummy. After a good meal we watched the kids open their gifts and then sent them to another room to play while the adults played the gift exchange game. It is lots of fun and there were several gifts exchanging hands this year. It was my brother James girlfriends first time to play the game and she caught on right away. Don't be shy, uou see something you want, take it! LOL! Once the game was over pretty much everyone had what they had spied and wanted most.
Above is Henry showing off the quilt mom made him for Christmas. She managed to work on it when he wasn't home so he did not know. She did not have the binding on before Christmas but gave it to him anyway. He got to watch her finish it off. He's a BIG K-Sate Fan... My mom is a KU fan. LOL!! They say opposites attract. :) We think she did a great job with the quilt.
My mom started collecting the Cape Cod collection of glassware from Avon many years ago as a single mother. Of course she never acquired the whole collection before they discontinued it. When we were helping them move we managed to take imnventory of what she has. Chuck and I found several pieces on E-Bay for her and that is the big surprise, OMGosh, look here. We love shocking her... :)
These two are cousins, they live in the same town and yet somehow hardly ever get to see each other. Raven received a book with a double heart. The heart said "best friends" and was actually two necklaces. Once I explained to her what it was, the meaning and that she would wear one and give the other to her best friend she said "I understand" and promptly went over to her cousin and said this. "Angel, you are my best friend, I want you to have this". We explained to Angel and she accepted it. They gave me such a lump in my throat. These two have been such good friends since babies. They are 6 months apart in age is all. Raven is my granddaughter and Angel is my niece.
We then celebrated Billie's birthday,which was yesterday and Henry's birthday which is this Tuesday with a big birthday cake and cards. Soo much food and fun, I am exhausted. I had no time for anything crafty or artsy today, unless making the chicken roll-ups counts. LOL!
Tomorrow is the start of a new week. For many vacations are over and it's back to work, back to the same old routine. Strive to make it a special day/week and to smile and laugh often. It is a new beginning, make the most of it. Things have been not so good at my work. I plan to make the best of it this week and to remember that only I control my attitude; and do just that.
Be Happy, Be Healthy, Be Yourself,
Tess
Happy Birthday to My Bobbie...
Greetings
Yes, as you can see by the heading and the cake with candles, today is my first born child's birthday. Bobbie wished me a Happy Mothers Day today. I told her it's not mothers day, it's her Birthday. Her reply made sense. For years she has wished me a Happy Mother's Day on her birthday (I love that she remembers this) because as she puts it, "today is the day you became a mother". And she is correct at that. :)
She had a fun night out with friends last night and then we surprised her with lunch with us and her grandma and new pa-paw as she is calling Henry. (He grins so it must be ok with him.) We took her to her favorite local Mexican food place for her favorite fajitas meal. My granddaughter told them it was her mommy's birthday today. We expected the big sombrero and the singing but what happened during the singing made the day perfect. Take a look:
Open the tunnel here comes the train.
Oops! Missed, I better even it out.
Her favorite waiter got her good! I thought my mom was gonna fall off her chair laughing, or maybe Bobbie. She was so shocked I don't think she even had any time to think about being embarrassed.
Grandma to the rescue, she helped clean her up.
The staff had the whole restaurant serenading her. The patrons were willing and it turned out the couple sitting behind us personally new both my hubby and Henry.
It was so worth seeing this beautiful smile and hearing her laughter.
I realized today that her brain tumor removal was 9 months and 5 days ago. It's fitting she had a wild weekend to celebrate her birthday. 9+ months ago we weren't so sure she'd see this one. See it she did and on her own two feet and aware of everything. What a wonderful day it has been. I am so thankful to all of you out there that prayed for her and continue to pray today. You are all wonderful people. Thank You, Thank You and Thank you again.
Be happy, Be well, Be yourself,
Tess
Young Love and a Birthday
This past Saturday this couple spent a wonderful day together celebrating her 68th birthday.
She won't mind that I told her age because she says she has earned her years.
He gave her these beautiful roses (and that great big smile on her face). Aren't they lovely?
This giant balloon was a surprise from me. You see they went square dancing for her big day. As their club was to host the evening she took her flowers along as the center piece for the table. I surprised her once I knew everyone would be there. The balloon sings "The Chicken Song".
Everyone laughed so and she thought it was hilarious.
They had so much fun dancing and I had fun watching and taking pictures.
(Can you believe she once broke her pelvis and had to learn how to walk all over again? It amazes me.)
Oh, by the way! This is my mom and he is her new love. (She giggles like a teen when she talks about him. Shh! Don't tell her I told you that, it's true though! LOL)
Isn't love grand,
Tess
JAnuary's Journal Day 21
This sweet little Angel Princess just had a birthday. In this she is about 6 but now she is 9. Today's journal challenge from Misty is to alter any photo. I chose to play with my Photo Shop Elements and alter a digital photo. Since my little angel niece has been on my mind I decided to alter this photo in celebration of her recent birthday. I found applying filters easy and quick. Playing with all of the add-on things was a lot of fun and to be honest I'm not even sure how I found them. I am tired as the past two days have been very busy. I'm pleased to announce the online recharter process for both the pack and the troop is validated, submitted and printed. Tomorrow I will deliver the papers to be signed and hopefully we will be able to meet our deadline of the 31st. Phew!
I plan to play with this Photo Shop stuff more and I am so pleased with the altered photo I am going to print it and paste it into my journal to remember this years birthday and my fun journals with Misty.
Tomorrows challenge is with crayons only Yippee! I love crayons, I keep them around for my little angel and her sibling and cousins. Nah, not really, they are for me, me, me. LOL
Good Night All,
Tess
Happy Birthday Mom!!
Today is My Mothers Birthday
Greetings everyone,
Today is a very special day. It is my mothers birthday. I wanted to mark her special day by posting something here just for her. Something that not only she would see but everyone would see. My mother and I have not always had the best of relationships. For many years we were completely apart. I found out though that she never gave up on me, not really, not like I had thought. And I thank her for that.
So today I want to wish her not only a Happy Birthday,
but many other things as well.
I could wish that we had never been separated like we were,
but so many lives would be altered if I wish for that, so I can't.
I could wish that she lived closer to me,
but she loves her quiet country home, so I shan't.
So instead I wish for her-
many sunny days to warm her face,
many friends to cheer her when she's down,
good health to keep her active,
enough in her bank account to satisfy her needs-
and a bit more to play with,
enough love to spill out of her heart-
for both her and others,
but most of all,
I wish for her many more lovely years
here with us on this earth.
Happy Birthday Mom, I love you !!!!
