Good Morning Peeps,

For those of you that know about the ordeal we went through with Bobbie Jo and a brain tumor 3 years ago. I thought I would show you how she looks today. She is doing well and loves her wild main of hair. If you remember she had to have her entire head shaved before the surgery.
Can't tell it quite as much here but she's lost lots of weight too. She is doing good keeping her blood sugar under control also. I'm so proud of her and how far she has come.

And this is our little girl (my granddaughter) that is growing up way too fast. These photos were taken during a warm March Saturday when we thought Spring was here. Now it has turned cold again and we even had more snow. I want to ring that groundhogs neck; or mother nature. I am soooooo ready for warmer weather.

Remember the word weaves I was talking about in my last post. The ones that I scanned and now are missing from the folder on the computer. Take a look here at the CraftyMoose blog to see one of them. I am sure Debbie will love your visit.

Have a great day,

Be Happy, Be Healthy, Be Safe,

Tess

A new camera and a walk in the cemetery...

Greetings to you all this fine November evening,
Can you believe it's November all ready? I don't know about where you are but here the weather has been gorgeous these past few days. Nice enough to not have to wear a coat and that is very unusual for this time of year. I am loving it. I got out my sweaters and long sleeved items and can wear them and am comfortable, even in the wind. I hate wearing a coat. How about you?
So what have I been up to....
I bought a new camera, or I should say We bought a new camera. He reminded me it's his too. LOL! It's a Canon Powershot XS10 and I love it. I haven't begun to use all of it's features yet. On November 1st the weather was so nice after I took my granddaughter home from her sleep over with us I took the camera and headed to the cemetery to take a walk. We have 2 here in town, The Highland Cemetery and St. Mary's cemetery. There are several country cemeteries I wish to visit with camera in hand next. Here are a few of the shots I got:

I liked the carving on the stone above and the message on the one below.

I counted 5 of these Unknown markers and I didn't even walk the whole cemetery. They made me feel sad. I stopped and spoke to them. Do you ever do that?? Speak to the dead when you don't even know who they were? Thinking about it now I guess it was a bit strange but at the time if felt right. "Hi there, just passing by. Put in a good word for me up there ok." Then wipe away the leaves. "Bye now." Ok so I'm strange, who cares!! :)

I love the eery shadow of a long faded carving on this one. I thought it would make a great background for a piece of art. The date was 1887 and 1889. There was another but I couldn't read it.
I love this statue. It is in the St. Mary's cemetery and there are stone benches near her for sitting and praying or reflecting. I met a lady there and she said she likes to sit and reflect on her day each morning during her walk. I liked that.
I also stopped and took a few pictures near Homer's Pond. I put a few of the pictures on Imagekind. Including the one above and below. I love how the one below turned out. The sky was so blue and this is a tree with these things (pods) on them. So does anyone know what the name of this tree is?

I plan on taking another walk this weekend with my new camera and I've told Bobbie it's about time we have a photo shoot. So many of my blogging friends prayed for her and I told her some of you still ask about how she is. I want to show you how she is. She is doing really well and has more good days than bad. And that thick hair of hers sure has grown back. :)

So, what have you been up to?

Happy Day,

Tess

Fall Foliage

Hello all,

Here it is the middle of September and our grass and trees are still green. We are still having 80+ degree days and some cooler nights. We haven't had nearly as much rain as usual in our area. I accepted an assignment on AC for a fall foliage slide show due the first week of October. I thought for sure we'd have some nice red and orange leaves on the trees by now. Nope, we've got green or yellow and that's about it. I'm going to take a country drive this weekend to see if I can find any colorful branches. I don't want to wish summer away but I don't want to miss my deadline either. So how are the trees in your area? Any pretty fall foliage developing? If you'd be willing to share a pic with me for my slide show I would gladly credit you as the photographer and place a link to your site.

On another subject I did have that MRI done this past Tuesday; no results yet. I still have that pain down the left arm and I've noticed my neck and shoulders are really tense. Some of you have mentioned stress. I have a feeling that may be it. If the MRI turns out ok I may have to see about scheduling a good upper body massage to get the kinks out. A pampering that I really can't afford. What is it grandma used to say, "If it's not one thing it's another". Meaning never a dull moment around here. LOL!

The Gas Company is coming to switch out our gas meter today. They say it's wayyy past due for updating. It's only suppose to take a wee bit of time. It amazes me they can do that without lots of precautions and such. We don't even have to be here when they start. They will come in at noontime and relight our furnace and hot water heater.

You all have a Happy Thursday,

Tess

Wow, I don't know about you all but I sure have been busy.
Saturday Chuck and I put all new knobs on our granddaughters dresser, cleaned it up and delivered it to them.
Then Sunday I got into a sewing mood and since we had missed going to potlatch at Camp Hansen to do a service project I decided to get started on a project from home. We are members of the Tribe of the Golden Eagle and to help out the camp some of us make things to sell at the Camp Trading Post. I found a great fabric in the remnants bin at Walmart and remembered I had it. I bought a bag of remnant materials at a yard sale months ago and decided to look through it. This is what I came up with.

I made two sets of breech cloths and they are fully reversible. The solid colors went perfectly with the colors in the patterned fabric. I did not have a pattern either. I just remembered what one of the other ladies at camp had told me and I looked at Chuck's breech cloth and started cutting. The ironing board and iron were a big help too. Front and back and a casing for the boys to put a belt through or a rope or strip of leather to secure to the waist. I have enough of the patterned fabric left to make two more sets and I found a nice brownish red solid color in the bag that matches. These will be my service project for this year. Well these and working staff for a week counts also. I will take them with us when we go to camp in June. We never seem to have enough breech cloths to sell in the Trading Post. Chuck makes eagle claw necklaces to sell and while in camp he usually makes at least one beaded chest plate to leave to sell the next week.

After I finished sewing I headed over to Heritage Park to watch the Run for the Wall ceremony. I had never witnessed it before even through it comes through our town every year. It was awesome. All of the veterans were so friendly and the event is very well organized.

This is the broken spoke wreath that was laid at the base of the Kansas Vietnam Memorial in our Heritage Park. If you would like to see more pictures please go over to my AC site. I took sooo many pictures of sooo many awesome people and motorcycles. :)

I have lots more photos to download and post and will probably do a part 4 and part 5 this weekend.

Tonight we are going over to Chapman to help a Troop with getting organized for their first ever week long camp at Camp Hansen this summer. They will be going the same week we do and we have been working with them for several years trying to get them to go. Their leadership has dwindled so we are needed. Tomorrow night we get to dress up in our regalia and attend a crossing over ceremony for a Pack we work with here. I love seeing the little guys eyes (cub scouts) when the leaders walk in dressed like Indians. Lots of fun......
I hope you all have a good rest of the week. Just 2 more work days to a three day weekend. Woo! Hoo! I wanna go fishing.
